 About

The album M.O.M: Moutin / Omicil / Moutin is a powerful reunion of three jazz virtuosos—Jowee Omicil and the Moutin brothers, François and Louis. After two electric encounters between Omicil and drummer Louis Moutin, the trio has reconnected with the essence of jazz. The addition of François Moutin on double bass adds a warm depth to their intense, free-spirited sessions. With no boundaries or constraints, the trio explores the full spectrum of jazz, embracing spontaneity and collective creativity.

The Moutin brothers, renowned for their twin synergy, have a rich history of collaboration across the jazz world. Having worked with legends like Michel Legrand and Mike Stern, they bring decades of experience and an unbreakable bond to the project. Meanwhile, Jowee Omicil, a Paris-based multi-instrumentalist with Haitian roots, infuses the music with his unique blend of Creole rhythms, gospel, soul, and hip hop, all wrapped in a love for jazz’s storied past.

M.O.M. is a vivid expression of unbridled enthusiasm, deep musical connection, and the joy of improvisation. Together, these three artists create a soundscape that is both rooted in jazz tradition and unafraid to venture into new, uncharted territories.
