Jowee Omicil distills a socially conscious jazz that is closely aligned with the realms of John Coltrane, Don Cherry, and Yusef Lateef. His free jazz is bold and versatile, drawing inspiration from his native Haiti as well as the rich tradition of freedom within the blue note.

Contemporary crises cannot be resolved with the mechanisms of the past," says Kern, who believes that the troubled world requires "healing processes."
