About
Jowee Omicil's album Naked represents his third release as a leader, following Roots & Grooves (2009) and Let’s Do This (2006). This project is a heartfelt homage to his elders and his diverse cultural background, reflecting the rich tapestry of his Haitian roots, Montreal upbringing, and Miami-based life.
In Naked, Omicil strips away pretensions and frills, offering a warm, contemplative experience that reveals new depths with each listen. The album is characterized by its compact, complete statements, delivered with a spontaneity that embodies a principle of freedom. Omicil’s intention was to create a sense of quietness and consecration, achieving an unusual fellowship with his fellow musicians. The result is a disc that feels both intimate and expansive, allowing listeners to connect deeply with the music and the spirit behind it.
