The Altered States world premiere was an unforgettable journey. From December 2 at New Morning in Paris to December 9 at Heaven Can Wait in New York City, and finally December 10 at Shapeshifter in Brooklyn, each performance was a unique creation, improvised entirely in the moment by Jowee Omicil and his talented ensemble, featuring Julia Richard, Val Jeanty, Tiss Rodriguez, and special guests at each venue.
Guided by Jowee’s passion for spontaneity and connection, every night offered something entirely its own. The ensemble’s interplay, fueled by mutual trust and openness, brought the music to life in ways that felt both intimate and boundary-pushing.
Each performance invited the audience to join the musicians on an unpredictable musical journey, exploring soundscapes that defied conventional genres. With energy, creativity, and a sense of togetherness, the ensemble created an atmosphere where anything felt possible.
"Music isn’t just something you play; it’s something you become in the moment."
Big thanks to Brooklyn Music School and Villa Albertine, whose support made these extraordinary moments possible.
Altered States has just begun and will continue touring in 2025 and 2026, sharing its vision of pure improvisation and musical freedom with audiences around the world. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the start of this incredible journey—you made it truly special.
